Our Backroadz SUV Tent is designed with a universal vehicle sleeve to accommodate virtually all CUV’s, SUV’s and minivans
The universal vehicle sleeve has an elastic band at the end creating a custom fit to your vehicle. The adjustable wheel well and trunk straps ensure a snug fit to your vehicle and the fabric flaps on the inside of the sleeve help seal any minor gaps caused by a curvy vehicle.
Yes. For the initial set-up however, we do recommend having assistance.
Yes. To ensure the best fit possible, we recommend our larger SUV Tents (82000, 84000, 13100, and 19100).
Yes. As long as the height from the ground to the highest point of the cap window/door does not exceed 80”, SUV Tents are compatible.
Please refer to the Warranty or Replacement Parts Section of the website.
Yes, as long as the circumference of the trailer opening does not exceed 210”.
Angle one of the awning poles so that the water will run off and not pool. Angle the bottom of the pole one way and peg out the other way. If you are leaving the campsite, it’s best to set-up camp for rain, just in case. Put away equipment, zip up all tent windows and doors, use the rainfly. Zip or roll up the awning. If it’s raining a lot, we would suggest not to use the canopy.
Our tents already have a water-resistant coating on them. However, the coating may wear down over time and you may want to spray a water repellent coating onto the tent and rainfly after a few years of use.
A seam sealer is not necessary. Our rainflies and truck tent floors have taped seams to guard against water entry. For additional protection and product maintenance, you may wish to use a seam sealant on your tent. Please note that water drops through the needle holes along the seams is common with all tents and is not a manufacturer’s defect.
There is a one-year manufacturer defect warranty. Please consult the Warranty section on the website.

We bought this tent a year ago to be used with our Subaru Crosstrek. We love the design and the size. It is easy to put up and down. Last night was the first night of a 2 month trip across Canada and the USA. It was also the first night using this tent in the rain. Within 10 minutes of the rain starting, the bottom seam was soaking through and there were drops of water in the tent. Thankfully, we use a trailer hitch carrier, and we were able to use that to stack anything that should not get wet, such as camera gear. We sleep in the back of the SUV and use the tent part for the dogs and our gear. Poor dogs had to search for a dry spot to sleep. Super disappointed at how quickly that seam leaked all the way around. The water seemed to be soaking through the tent fabric by morning as well. With rain on the forecast again tonight, I’m not sure how it will go. Hoping to get enough break in the weather to try a waterproofing spray. That job should not be required on new equipment. I’ve only ever needed it on past items after several years of use as our wears off. We want to live this tent. But I need something that will keep everything dry. Maybe a full coverage fly and taped seams on the tent? Frustrated.
The tent is great, especially as a complement to our SUV sleeping equipment but it has one major flaw, the rainfly is not big enough. The spot over the door doesn’t cover it enough, and it doesn’t cover the sleeve around the car. So when the rain is intense, like it is this summer, or when it lasts all day, the water seeps through the tent fabric.
I have the Napier 19100 which is for an SUV, I have a 2020 Dodge Ram with a roof top level cap and the tent fits perfectly onto the cap. Great item and I love all the space. (10 x10)
Just wanted to let you folks know that the SUV tent that we bought from you guys worked wonderfully in a crazy storm that hit northern Idaho just yesterday with torrential downpour sideways winds sideways rain debris, flash flooding thunder andlightning in crazy weather and we didn’t get wet, even though we had to hold on to everything the Napier tent did what it was supposed to do. Just thought you might want to know that thank you.

The tent poles are not good. Mine are splintering. where can I get replacements?
Great accessory for extra space and privacy, and for those rainy camping days. We were 3 weeks on the road. Mounting and dismounting was easy once you get the hang of it. Only draw back: we had a 13-100 model and experienced lots of leakage at the floor seams but it was raining a lot.
This wasn’t the SUV tent I was originally looking for, but it was hard to pass up at the price. It is less expensive and roomier than most competitors.
One thing I liked about it is that it fits width wise between the roof rack rails on my SUV so I was able to store and transport the tent in my cargo box. Very convenient.
Set up is pretty standard for anyone who has previously put up a dome tent, and ideally takes 2 people but could be done with 1 in a pinch.
With the exception of the sleeve that attaches to the hatch of your SUV the design of thus tent is pretty typical of most dome tents as well. It has great height, nice bug windows that also have Mosquito netting, and a floor. It also has a convenient strap dangling from the ceiling to hold a candle lantern or light which was very convenient. The access door is quite large, you can get coolers and tables in and out no problem but you do have to crouch a bit to get in each time.
The sleeve worked great! My SUV attached easily and gave me a whole other room (see photo). I was happy with the seal of the sleeve to the SUV but if you are worried about it, three bungee cords looped around the outside of your car really helps to keep the sleeve pressed up tight against the body of the car. At the connwxtion between the sleeve and tent is a Mosquito screen to keep any bugs out of the tent.
The sleeve was important to me as this was the reason I bought this tent. The sleeve is also easily detached from your SUV so that you can drive away if you need to, while leaving the tent sealed and standing. Very convenient.
The construction material on the tent is pretty standard. I had no problems with ripping or tearing but the tent is definitely not heavy duty. I seem to recall that it is only 800 denier. This is my biggest area of concern on terms of longevity and waterproofness.
I have seen other reviews where people complained about the quality of the tent pegs. I have no such complaint. They are actually sturdier than many other recreational tent pegs and I was literally able to hammer them into dirt without deformation.
Overall I am very happy with this purchase, it was affordable, easy to set up, and worked well. Just don’t know about long term waterproofness or wearability.
