Backroadz Truck Tent

Product was easy to install but make sure to put rain fly pole before popping it up. Note my 4 flip hard tonneau cover and back box needed to be removed and a couple of foam pieces needed to guard sharp edges from tonneau rails. Stayed mostly waterproof during heavy rain except at entrance where bags sat up against tent. Raised floor above wheel wells and used an Rv queen size mattress and had plenty of room to get changed. Regular queen mattress (which is 5 inches longer) would fit.

Just used this for the first time for a one nighter in Muskoka Ontario.Relatively easy setup for the first time, it'll get easier. But not sure how I'll get the rainfly on if I was by myself. The tent goes pretty high up when setup.It did rain in the morning, the rain fly doesn't cover the door area at all and I had rain mist come through the fabric.Otherwise I'm super excited to use this more this year. Fit my truck perfectly and very spacious.

Excellent fit for a 2010 Colorado LS unlike other brands that say they fit and do not. Set up is a snap and tear down is just as easy. There is lots of headroom even with a bed mattress that fits perfectly between the wheel wells without touching the front and back walls making sleeping much more comfortable for this granny.

And best of all, easy to get it back into the same bag that it came out of.It’s surprisingly spacious inside, with a ton of headroom.Word to the wise - set it up on the ground, and then move it to the truck bed. I made the mistake of setting it up in the truck bed, (despite the instructions recommending I do it on the ground - I know, I know, why follow the instructions?) and the pole seats were hard to find and reach. It would work best with two people, but I was able to do it on my own without too much swearing.Well worth the money, and I highly recommend.

Wow this is a great item. I set it up within a half hour of getting the package and except for putting the fly on the tent after it was up on the truck which I would not do the next time it went easily. I found the colour coded poles to be a bit confusing at first as they mean just the trim piece of each place you put the pole is the colour of the pole. I also managed to put the fly with the door side at the back by mistake but watching a video helped sort that out. It fit perfect and I got a great product quickly at a price we can brag about.

First, I love how this came with such a large carrying bag and the instructions for assembly are sewn into the bag so I will never lose them-amazing. I've set this tent up two times. One to see how it works in putting it up, and the second to actually do some camping. The first time I put it up I did so on my own (27 Female) in about 15-20mph winds. It took me about 45 minutes. I chose to set it up in the bed of my truck rather than on the ground and then transferring it. I found the instructions easy to follow. I absolutely love the height of the tent and the space inside of it. It fit my truck bed perfectly. I believe I didn't cover the edges of my truck bed as much as I could have this first time around. Now for the second time I set it up, it was just as easy for me. I again set it up on my own, it only took me about 30 minutes, give or take a few minutes because of my toddler needing something. I think the best part about this tent is how it goes over the edge to help keep water from getting in the truck bed. The bottom fabric of the tent extends up the sides of the truck bed and goes over a little bit. My only 2 issues with the design is that for the tent door, the bug netting is on the outside of the solid fabric. So to get into the tent you unzip the netting first and then the "door". It made it difficult for the inside of the "door" piece to dry. I did get some gnarly condensation the third night I used it, but I do believe that was more-so my fault due to poor ventilation. It dropped to the high 40s in Michigan, so I didn't want too much of the windows open. The last picture I show is the bottom of the tarp as I was folding it up to put back away. The tarp bottom starting thinning in multiple places. I do not have a terrible issue as it was not all the way through, but I'm sure the next time I go camping it will go all the way through. That fabric is just thin. I know this is a long one and I hope the pictures helped with giving a view. I have a 2017 Ram with a regular bed--no bells and whistles. I am excited to take it camping again.

Tent looks great easy to install. One thing I would’ve like is for the straps to have more protection for your car paint, but other than that it was easy installation. Took about 15 mins for someone that has never used one like this.

This is by no means is a premium tent but a great tent for a great price <$200.Having previously purchased a competitive product over this one purely for aesthetic / color reasons, I got a feel for how the truck bed tent experience could be and have a great comparison point. The Napier Backroadz is by far the superior design, as the recommended fitment was spot-on for my application as listed on their chart.Fitment - The truck bed tent fills the entire bed area. The width and height are spot-on with some extra interior material to spare. Being the Chevy Colorado has tall bed sides in relation to other Mid-Size trucks, this means that other Mid Size truck applications should also enjoy good fitment with additional interior material to spare. Unlike the other truck bed tent, the bed hold down straps are partially elastic which makes positioning and set-up much faster. With the no elastic straps every 1/2" of movement needed on one side had to be relieved in equal amounts on the 3 opposite side straps. The elastic makes for easy centering of the tent and once in position they can be pulled tot for the same kind of tension.Functionality / Size - The intention of the truck bed tent having the tailgate down is to the extend the sleeping area to greater than the 5'2"-5'6" area. This tent's design has a near vertical entrance panel making for the most amount of interior room offered. The other design has a dramatic slope putting your head or your feet within inches of the tent door surface when laying down. Additionally this tent has a nice high roofline. The extra head room is complimented by a "net' shelf at the top for placing lights that may not have hanging provisions ... nice little bonus feature.Design - The biggest plus of this particular truck bed tent is that its completely enclosed. The bed area is not left open meaning the tent will keep out bugs, dust/dirt and have some degree better temperature insulation in just keeping the cold air from blowing in. Having had the competitive product without the interior liner, I can say that with the liner as this tent has, is the only way to go. The other floorless design was marketed as faster to set-up but the process after the first attempt for both was about the same.Initial First time set-up: 34 minsSecond time set-up: 15 minsThis trip was a success with this product and it worked on the application as advertised and survived 30-40 mph gusts in 30 degree F weather with some snow flurries without any issues. Happy Camper here.Criticisms and Suggestions- While I don't mind branding, the Napier logo on the rain fly is too big and obnoxious. I would not even take a picture of it.- Functionality is great but it could use a little help in the aesthetic design and color choices.- Make a premium model with better insulation / thicker materials / upgraded zippers.

Its good, not as easy to install the first time, but once you done it once, you know the way and faster for second setup. First time took us like 20 minutes for 2 adults to install it, second time took 10 to 15 minutes for an adult to install it.Good ventilation and have a good desing. I have a BAK Revolver bed cover, and while it was tight to isntall on the bed due to the rails of the cover it still fit, so it has some room for adjusting.The zipper on front (door) could be better, the zipper goes around the arch and the attached part of the tend of the door is the bottom side, which pretty much needs to be fully open for an adult to comfortable squeeze in/out and when its fully open, the door falls into exterior which can grab some dirt/mud depending where you are.On regards of material, its ok, the fabric/tarp on the bottom is not though but does the job, the sides are meh, but also does the job, feels it will last for at least 20-30 setups

Fits perfectly on a Jeep Gladiator. I did something a little crazy and took it untested on a 5 week solo road trip across the country and planned on camping the entire time. For those who say it's hard to set up alone, it's much easier if you put it in the truck bed and put something heavy on the floor of the tent to hold it down, then start setting up. This is also how I transported it, collapsing it on top of my twin air mattress (half deflated and folded in half since the Gladiator's bed is tiny) and gear. Fold in the ends of the poles that extend beyond the bed, close up the soft tonneau cover and you'll be halfway set up the next night and everything stays clean and dry. To put the fly on by yourself, clip the buckle on a corner by the cab on one side, then push the rest of the fly between the back of the tent and the rear cab window. Go to the other side, pull the fly through and clip the other rear buckle. Stand on the rear tire to pull one side up and over, clip the front, then repeat on the other side. It's really pretty easy and I even pulled it off with 40mph wind gusts one night. It survived wind, rain, sleet, and snow and never leaked. The elastic in one set of poles finally broke after I got home and set it up one last time to clean it out, but after 35 straight days of use and abuse, I really can't complain and will get it fixed. Probably one of my best Amazon purchases!

I have had this tent for almost a year now and have used it multiple times so I think I can give an accurate review on it.The TL:DR is I love this tent, and if you are thinking of a truck bed setup like this, this tent is awesome! Being up off the ground surrounded by the truck bed gives an extra sense of security and there is plenty of room inside.Setup: Reviews here mentioned setting it up on the ground vs while it is in the truck bed and having done both methods, I agree setting it up on the ground then lifting it into the truck bed is the way to go. It is especially helpful with another person to help get it into place. The actual setup of the tent is typical, and if you are used to setting up a tent this is similar. It takes about 5 minutes now to get it popped up and into the truck bed, first time is a little frustrating when you don't fully know how it works. I am in a 2005 Nissan Titan and it fits perfectly.Durability: so far this tent has held up just fine with multiple setup and take downs, no visible damage yet, and it survived some very strong winds during a bit of a storm. With the rain fly on it stays perfectly dry inside and not being on the ground when it rains is very nice. Zippers are all holding up fine. I also found out that it can hold up to moving the truck under 20mph recently when a Bear decided to crash our campsite, my Wife and Son inside reported that it was solid during the short ride we took.Inside/comfort: The tent gives a really cozy feeling in your truck bed and even though its just the size of your truck, it feels plenty spacious and sleeps my Wife, Son and I comfortably. There is plenty of headroom and the way it hangs over the sides of the bed make it like a shelf on each side where I like to put my phone/keys/wallet etc... We originally were using a queen size air mattress and while it fit well, the comfort was a bit lacking (probably due to the low quality mattressI was using) I built a modular wood platform that we then put some foam mattress toppers on it that has really made a huge difference, more comfortable, and more stable than an air mattress.Conclusion: We love this tent and have not regretted it one bit, you feel more secure in your truck bed than on the ground. Setup/takedown is standard for most tents, nothing tricky once you get the hang of it, and it fits in its bag easily enough. I would definitely buy it again if something were to happen to it.
