FAQs

Begin by measuring the bed of your truck with the tailgate closed. Our sizing guides will help you determine which tent is compatible with your truck. Our website also displays a sizing chart for your convenience.

No. Driving with the tent mounted to your vehicle may cause personal injury and/or damage to your tent and truck.

Yes. The tent will work with a sprayed, mat, or prefabricated liner.

Railings will work as long as they are less than 3” tall. Roll and sports bars must be removed.

No. Truck Tents will not work as long as the camper shell/cap is assembled. Napier SUV Tents are the best option as long as the height from the ground to the highest point of the cap window/door does not exceed 80”.

Yes. One person is able to set up a Napier Truck Tent, however we do recommend having assistance during the first set-up. The first set-up should take approximately 15 minutes and about 10 minutes each time thereafter. Each tent comes with set-up instructions and color-coded poles for easy assembly.

Yes. We recommend placing the tent over the toolbox to minimize the amount of water that could enter between the box and the tent. It is also recommended to cover the corners of the toolbox to protect the tent from ripping on sharp edges. Please note that you will lose the amount of space that the toolbox occupies.

Our truck tents will fit over Roll-Up Tonneau Covers if the rolled-up tonneau cover is less than 6” high

As long as the back rack does not intrude onto the rails of the truck too far, it should not impact the functionality of the tent. Please email customerservice@napieroutdoors.com with a photo or the exact model of your back rack to determine if the rack is compatible.

Our tents already have a water-resistant coating on them. However, the coating may wear down over time and you may want to spray a water repellent coating onto the tent and rainfly after a few years of use. For additional protection and product maintenance, you may wish to use a seam sealant on your tent.

See Pic, No Confidence In Water Resistance

Wanted to love this tent but light pouring through all seams, parts of walls, and the door looks like the pic attached. This is taken and assembled straight out of the box. Entire line of light coming through in addition to the other pinholes.Don’t know if water can make it through these but not gambling on it.Rubber ends of poles all were coming off too when removed from the pole sleeves, as others have mentioned.

Great service

So I do absolutely like the tent its amazing to say the least but it isnt as long as it shows does lack about a foot in the front of the bed of the truck but my cooler fits there so its cool and the part that ties to the tailgate doesnt fit 100% but does not afect anything.and last thing the instruction manual attached to the bag is not in English after the front page. Great job..

Pin holes and short strap on front of rainfly.

**Update: 11/18/21(They sent an acceptable replacement and I love this tent. Pretty cool that you can just pull it out if you want to go for a drive.)Make sure you set this up in your return time frame.Set up was easy, did it alone. I am a 54 year old, 5'7" woman. You will need a step ladder or stool. It fit my 2016 GMC Full-size, short bed perfectly. It is very roomy and I can stand up fully in it.My problem is quality. The tent it's self had pin size holes all over it, the rainfly may have made that a non-issue. Except that the rainfly had a short strap where a long one was supposed to be, right in the front by the door.I have returned for an exchange, we'll see what the outcome is.I will update this after I've used it, if they send me an acceptable replacement.

Not waterproof

Not at all waterproof. As soon as I set it up the waterproofing starts ripping apart. Was soaked every morning for 3 days. Also they will only give you a 75% refund for defective items.

completely deteriorated upon arrival

completely deteriorated upon arrival, the grossest most disappointing unboxing and assembly ever, gluelike goo substance making the poles impossible to guide through the guides, covered in white paint like residue, inside the material is entirely cracked and deteriorated, this was brand new never opened in terrible condition. the materials in this tent smell like balloon and feel like they would tear with a bug bite. I am honestly MAD to have spent $200 on this

Wish it was made as good as it looks. :(

Just got back from a 3 day trip using this tent for the first time. Here is my review with pics below.THE GOOD: This tent looked really sharp on my truck IMO (2013 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab, Short Bed). It got lots of compliments from my fellow campers in the looks department. Caught the end of the recent hurricane weather, so it rained cats and dogs on day one, but with the rain shield up, that was a non-issue. I knew rain was coming, so I cannot speak to it's rain handling without the shield up. It also felt quite solid in the sometimes gusty winds. I wasn't aware of this feature - but I really liked the IDEA (more on this in a few) of the blackout sealing material on the inside. No lantern light getting out at night attracting bugs, and you can sleep in a little in the morning if desired. OTHER PROS: Roomy. Has a floor sewn in, which I preferred over the tents that are just bed toppers. Has privacy covers for every window. Has a center hook which was perfect for hanging my Coleman Tent Fan/LED Light combo.THE BAD: It's just not that well made. The zippers are cheap and feel delicate. I felt like I have to be very careful or I'm going to ruin the tent. I totally believe the other reviewers who said they had zipper issues, since I worried about that every time I opened it. The tent poles are not very flexible, and they really stress out the seams putting the thing up. You also can see the threads in the seams pulling apart at a few points after only a few days of use. The blackout sealing also means that with the vents all closed (as I did in heavy rains) that it does not breath at all, but I guess that's a trade-off you have to make if you really need that. The rain shield also completely blocks any ventilation at all. Finally, there is no access hatch to the rear cab window like their other tents have.THE UGLY: It's impossible to unpack the tent without damaging the blackout layer on the inside. It is packed sooo tightly in it's box that when you pull it apart, it tears off. I noticed that right away and continued my unpacking process very carefully, to no avail.I really want to love this tent, as I love the idea of truck bed camping now. I love the ideas and features of this tent, but it feels not well made. I'd pay twice as much for this exact tent better made. It arrived damaged (the blackout material pulling away during unpacking) and I fear that it just isn't going to last more than a season or two (if I keep it), which makes me sad because it's a great idea, great look, and solid design - just not well executed. I intend to reach out to the company and will update this review depending on the company's response.UPDATE: Upon second setup, even more of the blackout material pulled away, leaving small black flecks everywhere. Also, the pocket for the tailgate pole is already tearing away (it's only a single seam and is super tight). Added updated photos.

Nice tent!

Tent was pretty simple to use. Assembly was intuitive. I used it in the Everglades. Mosquitoes were out in force. The tent kept out the biters, except for the ones I let in entering and leaving. The dark color did not transmit light at all. I left the windows unzipped, and fog rolled in which made everything damp (my fault). I'm pretty happy with the purchase so far.The only downside to this design is, everything has to be puked out of the truck bed. The upside is, bugs aren't getting in. If you have a crew cab pickup and plan carefully, the bed loading/unloading can be kept to a minimum.

Just what I was looking for

I Picked this up for the GF for her birthday and we just got done spending a few nights in it on the beach. I did put a twin mattress in the bottom to add some cushion. It worked out great I am 6ft2in and she is 5ft6ish and we slept in it comfortably. The black out of the inside was great for when traffic drove down the beach we did not get there headlights waking us up. It was really windy one day and it did not move an inch. We also changed camping spots and drove it a few miles down the beach at about 20mph and it did not budge. So I would say we are 100% happy after our first trip and hopefully we will get many more trips out of it but time will tell. The construction feels light but it is reinforce in the areas that make contract with the bed so hopefully it holds up.

Fun fun

Set up was easy! Plenty of ventilation, full size mattress worked in truck bed! Zipper had some issues could have been user, also small pin holes on door flap and ceiling. Over all would buy again and price was okay!

Awesome tent!!

Fits perfect in my 2014 Dodge Ram. Very easy to set up and take down. All the windows and doors zip easy without getting “stuck.” I love it! The ran fly fits easy and covers well except for over the front door. Not much overhang at the front door to deflect rain. I used an extra tarp to try to help stay dry during a very rainy trip. But I would definitely recommend this truck tent to anyone!!

Very dark inside which is what I wanted

Works great and the room is really dark.Only 4 atar because didnt know if you have a hard top bedcover it really needs to come off before using this to work properly if it rains so water doesnt go underneath your tent. Also the rubber end caps come off easily. But it fits and works perfect.

Returned twice!

We set this up in our truck upon getting it and noticed multiple areas of what appeared like pinholes. So we exchanged it and the replacement looked worse on the inside. It may be just the inner layer letting light in and not actual holes but we did not want to take the chance for the price. Could be much better quality control.

My wife broke one of the poles with first use...

I bought this for my wife who wanted to use it on a camping trip with our adult children (I don't camp...). Even though my fairly intelligent son in law was with her, they managed to set it up completely wrong and broke one of the fiberglass poles in the process. When she came home I set it up properly for her to show her how it was done (not that she'll ever remember or even use it again), and despite the broken pole it still works. It fit a Chevy Colorado quite nicely, though it was hard to find the right model that fit that truck, I did end up with the right one.

Severe Manufacturing Issues

New out of the box this tent had severe manufacturing issues. The entire rainfly backside was coming off like a glue/slime upon first opening. The interior of the tent already had degraded to the point where you could see light coming through. I have had to now open a warranty claim through Napier after contacting Amazon because they sent me a product that was bad out of the box.

Perfect fit

I have a 2021 f250 with a standard size bed and this fit perfectly. It is very well designed and was super easy to assemble. Practice once in your driveway and it will be super quick the second time. First time is slow as you figure out the concept of how the colored poles fit. This is super roomy inside and has a high ceiling that you can stand up in while hunched over. Very good cross ventilation with side and rear wiindows. I got the version with the door awning which makes a nice little porch area over your open tailgate and the Ford tailgate steps allow you to sit on the tailgate in the shade to remove your shoes before going inside. Definitely recommend an air mattress or a cot. You don’t need the full size mattress, whic are expensive. A simple backpack type sleeping pad will do and allow you space to place things on the floor without them bouncing around if they are on top of the wall to wall mattresss. Your truck bed will feel very hard!

Awesome!!, With a few exceptions.

Awesome tent set up except the middle straps don't really have a secure spot to attach. And biggest draw back is that once u set up. Can't move your vehicle. And if you purchase the $200+ attach tent. If you do have to start truck (i.e.-power or heat. You would gas up with fuems or possibly start tents on fire. But, if you keep that in mind you could enjoy this set up. We just had first trip this father's day weekend w setup. Worked great and had lots of gawkers.
