Begin by measuring the bed of your truck with the tailgate closed. Our sizing guides will help you determine which tent is compatible with your truck. Our website also displays a sizing chart for your convenience.
No. Driving with the tent mounted to your vehicle may cause personal injury and/or damage to your tent and truck.
Yes. The tent will work with a sprayed, mat, or prefabricated liner.
Railings will work as long as they are less than 3” tall. Roll and sports bars must be removed.
No. Truck Tents will not work as long as the camper shell/cap is assembled. Napier SUV Tents are the best option as long as the height from the ground to the highest point of the cap window/door does not exceed 80”.
Please refer to the Warranty section on the website.
Yes. One person is able to set up a Napier Truck Tent, however we do recommend having assistance during the first set-up. The first set-up should take approximately 15 minutes and about 10 minutes each time thereafter. Each tent comes with set-up instructions and color-coded poles for easy assembly.
Yes. We recommend placing the tent over the toolbox to minimize the amount of water that could enter between the box and the tent. It is also recommended to cover the corners of the toolbox to protect the tent from ripping on sharp edges. Please note that you will lose the amount of space that the toolbox occupies.
Our truck tents will fit over Roll-Up Tonneau Covers if the rolled-up tonneau cover is less than 6” high
As long as the back rack does not intrude onto the rails of the truck too far, it should not impact the functionality of the tent. Please email customerservice@napieroutdoors.com with a photo or the exact model of your back rack to determine if the rack is compatible.
There is a one-year manufacturer defect warranty. Please consult the Warranty section on the website.
Our tents already have a water-resistant coating on them. However, the coating may wear down over time and you may want to spray a water repellent coating onto the tent and rainfly after a few years of use. For additional protection and product maintenance, you may wish to use a seam sealant on your tent.

GOOD
Instructions are attached to the carry case. No more missing instructions!
Instructions recommend setup next to the truck then placing it in the bed. This saves a lot of swearing!
Tons of room!
Tent fabric materials are durable ( I park in the open most times)
“Bathtub” tent bottom is truly waterproof I’ve been caught in the rain a couple times and was parked downhill. I had a couple inches pooled in the front of the bed and had no idea until I took the tent down in the morning!BAD
The poles appear to either be cut too long, or are bent right to their design limits. The one for the vestibule (grey) split end to end this last trip.
The poles are always difficult to get into their pockets because of their length. I’m always afraid of another one breaking.
Center vestibule floor strap for the tailgate is a headache because the strap’s end clip is hefty (this is good), BUT the gap on the Tacoma tailgate is very tight and hard to get it thru. I kludged it I tied a knot in the tent end, and use a bungee cord. No more swearing!October 24, 2023 -

Looks like the perfect truck camper tent, but I’m having trouble placing an order on this web site.

Easy to Erect & Dismantle. Of course when we received this item we had to put it up that night to try it out in our driveway. For 1st timers, it went up well and relatively fast. Was very cozy comfortable once we got the 4” foamy down. Had a great sleep👍🏼

It works. It’s tent that fits in the bed of a truck and it does its job 100% I’m a Happy Camper.
This review is based upon purchasing the product according to the fitment chart provided by the manufacturer. It should be noted that I purchased the Rightline Gear 110766 5 Foot Mid Size Short Truck Tent (5′) -Tall Bed and it did NOT fit and there were quite a few quality issues
APPLICATION: 2015-2021 Chevrolet Colorado – Crew Cab / Short Bed
PRODUCT: Napier Backroadz Truck Tent Compact Short Bed (5′-5’2″)
Regarding the star ratings:
Easy to assemble … 5 stars – Because it’s semi-intuitive and instructions are accurate
Warmth ……………….. 5 stars – Because it’s a non insulated tent that was as warm as non-insulated tent should be. I didn’t rate 5 stars because it was “warm”
Thickness …………….. 5 stars – Because it was not advertised as heavy duty or having some construction of some exotic strong materials it was up to expectation for durabilityWhile I do rate this a 5 star product, it is 5 star because it delivered on the claims and my expectations based on those claims. This is by no means is a premium tent but a great tent for a great price <$200.
Having previously purchased a competitive product over this one purely for aesthetic / color reasons, I got a feel for how the truck bed tent experience could be and have a great comparison point. The Napier Backroadz is by far the superior design, as the recommended fitment was spot-on for my application as listed on their chart.
Fitment – The truck bed tent fills the entire bed area. The width and height are spot-on with some extra interior material to spare. Being the Chevy Colorado has tall bed sides in relation to other Mid-Size trucks, this means that other Mid Size truck applications should also enjoy good fitment with additional interior material to spare. Unlike the other truck bed tent, the bed hold down straps are partially elastic which makes positioning and set-up much faster. With the no elastic straps every 1/2" of movement needed on one side had to be relieved in equal amounts on the 3 opposite side straps. The elastic makes for easy centering of the tent and once in position they can be pulled tot for the same kind of tension.
Functionality / Size – The intention of the truck bed tent having the tailgate down is to the extend the sleeping area to greater than the 5'2"-5'6" area. This tent's design has a near vertical entrance panel making for the most amount of interior room offered. The other design has a dramatic slope putting your head or your feet within inches of the tent door surface when laying down. Additionally this tent has a nice high roofline. The extra head room is complimented by a "net' shelf at the top for placing lights that may not have hanging provisions … nice little bonus feature.
Design – The biggest plus of this particular truck bed tent is that its completely enclosed. The bed area is not left open meaning the tent will keep out bugs, dust/dirt and have some degree better temperature insulation in just keeping the cold air from blowing in. Having had the competitive product without the interior liner, I can say that with the liner as this tent has, is the only way to go. The other floorless design was marketed as faster to set-up but the process after the first attempt for both was about the same.
Initial First time set-up: 34 mins
Second time set-up: 15 minsThis trip was a success with this product and it worked on the application as advertised and survived 30-40 mph gusts in 30 degree F weather with some snow flurries without any issues. Happy Camper here.
Criticisms and Suggestions
– While I don't mind branding, the Napier logo on the rain fly is too big and obnoxious. I would not even take a picture of it.
– Functionality is great but it could use a little help in the aesthetic design and color choices.
– Make a premium model with better insulation / thicker materials / upgraded zippers.March 16, 2023 -

I just purchased a Napier Backroadz compact to use with my 2022 Rivian R1T. Before purchasing I couldn’t find a single example of anyone trying this on a Rivian. The bed length on the Rivian is not quite 5 foot long but the tailgate articulates allowing for a longer than normal extended length. This works out great and allows this product to fit really well. The front corners can be run inside the gear tunnel and to each other which makes for a nice tight fit. The tent was easy to set up and seems like it is going to work really well.

I have made two long trips, sleeping 10 and 12 nights in my tent. I have a Tacoma truck, with a removable, trifold cover. I leave the bedroll, etc in the tent, take the poles out, put the cover back on the truck bed, and off I go! It is very easy to set up and take down. My only complaint has to do with the poles. They are light weight and easily damaged. The vestibule pole is too long, and requires too much tension when set up. I have had two, and both had a section that splintered. I have two other poles that were broken with routine set up and use. Everything else is awesome
