Backroadz 19 Series Sizing Chart

How do I know what model of tent to order for my truck?
Begin by measuring the bed of your truck with the tailgate closed. The “Fit My Ride” tool on our homepage will help you determine which tent is compatible with your truck. Our website also displays a sizing chart for your convenience.

Is there a Truck Tent for the Honda Ridgeline?
Yes. Honda sells a custom Ridgeline tent for models 2016+. Unfortunately, models produced before 2016 are not compatible. Visit your local Honda dealership for details.

Can I drive with the tent set-up in the bed of the truck?
No. Driving with the tent mounted to your vehicle may cause personal injury and/or damage to your tent and truck.

Can one-person set-up a Napier Truck Tent by themselves? How long will it take?  Yes. One person is able to set up a Napier Truck Tent, however we do recommend having assistance during the first set-up. The first set-up should take approximately 15 minutes and about 10 minutes each time thereafter. Each tent comes with set-up instructions and color-coded poles for easy assembly.

Can you fit a tent over a bed toolbox?
Yes. We recommend placing the tent over the toolbox to minimize the amount of water that could enter between the box and the tent. It is also recommended to cover the corners of the toolbox to protect the tent from ripping on sharp edges. Please note that you will lose the amount of space that the toolbox occupies.

Will the tent fit with a tonneau cover? Our Truck Tents will work with certain types of tonneau covers only; they are not compatible with all. Please see the list below for specifics:

  • Retractable Tonneau Covers: Yes, these will work.
  • Folding Tonneau Covers: Will NOT work; the tonneau cover will need to be removed.
  • Hinged Tonneau Covers: Will NOT work; the tonneau cover will need to be removed.
  • Roll-Up Tonneau Covers:
    • If the rolled-up tonneau cover is less than 6” high, yes you can place the truck tent over the tonneau cover.
    • If the rolled-up tonneau cover is more than 6” high, you will have to either remove the tonneau cover completely or place the truck tent up against the tonneau cover. If the tent is placed up against it, please note that rain could find its way between the truck tent and tonneau cover since there will be a slight gap between the two.

Will the Truck Tent work with a Back Rack (Headache Rack)? As long as the back rack does not intrude onto the rails of the truck too far, it should not impact the functionality of the tent. Please email customerservice@napieroutdoors.com with a photo or the exact model of your back rack to determine if the rack is compatible.

Will the tent fit with a bed liner?
Yes. The tent will work with a sprayed, mat, or prefabricated liner.

Will the tent fit with sports bars, roll bars, or bedside rails?
Railings will work as long as they are less than 3” tall. Roll and sports bars must be removed.

Will the Truck Tent work if my truck has a camper shell/cap on it? No. Truck Tents will not work as long as the camper shell/cap is assembled. Napier SUV Tents are the best option as long as the height from the ground to the highest point of the cap window/door does not exceed 80”.

How can I make sure that my tent is the most water resistant that it can be?
Our tents already have a water-resistant coating on them. However, the coating may wear down over time and you may want to spray a water repellent coating onto the tent and rainfly after a few years of use.

Do I need to use a seam sealer on my tent?
A seam sealer is not necessary. Our rainflies and truck tent floors have taped seams to guard against water entry. For additional protection and product maintenance, you may wish to use a seam sealant on your tent. Please note that water drops through the needle holes along the seams is common with all tents and is not a manufacturer’s defect.

How do I find a retailer near me?
The “Find a Retailer” tool on our website will help you locate your closest retailer.

I purchased this tent over a year ago, but never had a chance to use it until now with a cross country road trip. It is awesome. Easy to set up, even in the dark. I either rolled it up with a cushion for a mattress inside it or left it all set without the poles in the bed of the truck and with the tonneau cover over everything. Cold nights and moderate wind didn’t make a difference at all.

We’ve had this tent for 2 summers now and it is fantastic! Tall interior is great for getting changed etc. We have a tacoma long bed and put a platform inside the bed so we can have a futon mattress inside. Two pluses are 1) you’re off the bed of the truck so can sit on end of mattress and still be inside the tent and 2) sleeping on a proper mattress. We do all this before we leave then fold everything in and put the tonneau cover on top. Stealth!

Simple to set up and directions are sewn into carrying case. Able to do it single handed. Very happy so far (after one use).

  • Yolando from Costco

Clean and Easy – Used for weekly long camping trip. Easy to setup and take down. Being off the ground keeps tent clean inside.

  • Graham From Canadian Tire

The Tent was very clear and easy instructions and went up without any issue in less then 10 minutes. it provided lots of space for up to 3 people to sleep once I inserted a Air Mattress. without the Mattress its really only good for 2 people. Having a tent that’s in your truck keeps you off the ground away from the most insects and water making this a great product for a new camper. Overall I give this Truck tent a 10 out of 10 for quality

My Backroadz tent arrived yesterday evening before dark.
Fist time setting it up took 20+ minutes trying to be careful not to miss anything.
Some difficulty getting poles into place and through a struggle learning curve realized if you lossen all tie downs it expedited the installation.
Once fully in place and tightened down the next struggle was the rain fly.
It fits the front or cab end well yet at the tailgate the angels are off.
Workmen ship around side windows are not as clean as one might expect however it is secure.
Door has only one set of toggles to hold both door and screen a second set would be nice for the screen door otherwise it just hangs waiting to be damaged.
These are minor things that are noticeable .
    On the positive side!
Roomy interior and the roof vent a big score for me.
Fits snugly to my 2011 Ram1500 and once completely closed up took the garden hose test without a leak.
The price was fair and worth what I received.
Even some friends are looking to get one now after seeing what I have !
My new Base Camp is ready for this seasons fishing and hunting trips

We LOVE this tent! It fit our truck bed perfectly! It was so secure and easy to set up! I love that the windows had their own panels which added a little bit extra insulation from a cold November night. My only wish is that it had a cord slip at the back of the tent where our back window is. That way we didn’t have to run an extension cord around the truck and through the tent to fill our air mattress.

Imagine a hurricane style wind, truck swaying side to side as the rain pelts the ground….this was exactly how the first night in this tent was. It held up amazing, it was dry and warm. The set up was quick and easy and fit exactly like described in the directions. Definitely looking forward to a more favourable weather trip soon. Would highly recommend this tent.

This tent was the perfect addition for my camping/fishing expeditions. It fit my 2011 Chev Silverado Crew Cab perfectly. I can set it up by myself in about 15 minutes. I’ve used it in wind and rain and it stood up to both, tremendously. Paired with an air mattress that fits the bed of my truck, I’ve had the best sleeps I’ve ever had in a tent.

This is a great intro tent to vehicle camping. Its versatile design means it will fit all truck beds. I have a RAM with side boxes and Roll’n’Lock tonneau. With some slight modifications to strap the poles from spreading right out and putting some blocks for the front awning poles it avoided any tight spots and possible splits in the water proof base. It would be good to have additional eyelets half way along the flysheet to be able to take up the slack. Securing to the truck is very easy and gives a lot of security in the wind. The price point is amazing and even better when on special and Canadian Tire!

  • Ashley

Wow. This tent was great. Fit my 2019 ram perfectly, lots of room inside and i woke up comfortable and dry in the morning even though it was pouring rain over night. Would highly recommend this tent in a heartbeat. Set up and take down was easy too.

  • JD2020 from Canadian Tire

For the price – This is an amazing option between regular camping and RVing
I bought this product over the May long weekend and proceeded to go on a trip with my wife the following week. We had an amazing trip and were comfortable the entire time! This truck tent was extremely easy to setup with the colour coded poles. I’m not the most camp – savvy person but, we were able to have our site setup in around 10 minutes. This truck tent paired with a air mattress is an amazing pair.

  • dp13xq from Dick’s Sporting Goods

Enjoyed the tent while camping in Muskoka this past weekend! It fit my Honda Ridgeline perfectly. Setup was easy, we used our own 2 person air mattress which we pumped through the cab of the truck. Awesome setup, super easy and comfortable.

  • Stephanie from Hanford, CA

So excited to have this amazing tent to keep me off the ground and yet still in nature! Camping grounds, here I come!
